Including Everyone

Nondiscrimination Policy

Statement of Commitment

Big Sky OUT is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environment for all people. As an organization rooted in the LGBTQ+ community of Big Sky and greater Montana, we understand firsthand the harm caused by discrimination — and we hold ourselves to the highest standard of inclusive practice in everything we do. This policy applies to all programs, events, volunteer opportunities, employment, board service, and organizational activities.

Nondiscrimination Policy

Big Sky OUT does not discriminate on the basis of: Race, color, or ethnicity National origin or immigration status Sex, gender identity, or gender expression Sexual orientation Age Disability (physical or mental) Religion or creed Socioeconomic status or source of income Marital or family status Pregnancy or parenting status Veteran or military status Body size or physical appearance HIV status or other health condition This policy applies to all aspects of organizational life, including but not limited to: Event attendance and participation Volunteer recruitment and engagement Employment and contractor relationships Board and committee membership Access to services, programs, and resources Communications and marketing Vendor and partner relationships

Inclusive Environment

Big Sky OUT is dedicated to building community that reflects the full diversity of Montana's LGBTQ+ people and allies. We actively work to remove barriers — financial, geographic, cultural, and social — that may limit participation. We recognize that discrimination can be both overt and structural. This policy therefore extends beyond individual conduct to include organizational practices, program design, and decision-making processes.

Harassment and Conduct

Discrimination includes harassment — any unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic that creates a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment. This includes verbal, written, physical, and digital conduct. Big Sky OUT does not tolerate harassment of any kind by or toward staff, volunteers, board members, event attendees, vendors, or partners.

Reporting and Accountability

Any person who believes they have experienced or witnessed discrimination or harassment in connection with Big Sky OUT is encouraged to report it. Reports may be made to: Big Sky OUT Board of Directors Email: [board@bigskeyout.org]. All reports will be taken seriously, handled with discretion, and reviewed promptly. Retaliation against anyone who makes a good-faith report is strictly prohibited and itself constitutes a violation of this policy.

Accommodations

Big Sky OUT will make reasonable accommodations to ensure meaningful participation for people with disabilities and others who may face barriers. Requests for accommodations related to events or programs should be directed to event organizers in advance when possible.

Driven by curiosity and built on purpose, this is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution. Let’s create something meaningful together.
